A cargo ship with roll royce and Ferraris sinks in England: The car carrier Hoegh Osaka was stable on Monday (January 5), lying on its side on a sandbank outside Southampton port, the ship’s owner said.
The large cargo ship ran into problems on Saturday (January 3) shortly after it left Southampton harbour, developing “a severe list”, the ship’s owner, Hoegh Autoliners, said on Sunday (January 4).
”The pilot and the master took the decision to save the vessel and its crew by grounding her on the bank. This showed great skill and seamanship on behalf of our crew when faced with such challenging circumstances,” a statement by the company read.
All of the crew members were rescued. Two were taken in hospital with minor injuries, Hoegh Autoliners also said.
Hoegh Autoliners added it was preparing for a ”safe and successful salvage of the vessel with minimal disruption to the port and its environment.”
Southampton is Britain’s largest vehicle handling port, and also home to the country’s second-largest container terminal.
