Installing the timing chains and gears on 4.7 V8
I hate to say it but the 4.7 engines are garbage man
can i just spin the crank til it reaches tdc?
how many miles did you have when you did this?
Hey rszombiesurvival thanks a lot for the informative videos. I got a quick question if you get some time to answer? My 1999 4.7 jeep grand Cherokee AWD. Had gone threw 4 timing chain tensioners in the last year. I just got it back, This is a new garage that I took it to. He said the reason for this problem was to do with a oil restricter a previous person must have installed. he said something along the lines that only one should be installed on the right side and not the left. I couldn't make heads or tails as to what he was talking about? If someone put 2 in……one on the left and one on the right? I never heard of an oil restricter used??? Could you possibly shed some light on what he may be talking about or if he may be trying to blow some sort of sunshine up my. Thanks in advance
Hard to believe total timing chain kit was $500 dollar!
great video used rubber bands and 2 string and went together great was kinda worried about it till I seen the video
What did you do to seal the timing cover? I put seal in mine and ended up with a squealing fan belt because the metal from of the gasket for the cover actually caused the cover to move out nearly the full width of a fan belt rib. I took it all apart and decided to try the felpro kit which is just two big o-rings, an odd shaped o-ring for the top passage, and a crank seal.. turns out it would of produced the same results because the odd shaped seal is in a molded plastic frame… Only seals I can remember removing from the cover on my 2007 4.7 is the silicone rtv. There are no reliefs in either my engine block or my timing cover. Really frustrated with this! HELP!
the raised metal u used channel locks is called a friction weld.
Does oil Pam have to come off if you doing three chain in the truck?
Can u tell me how to remove gear crank shift exactly with explain in video ??
2000 grand cherokee 4.7 thats seized to where it will only turn over if i put braker bar on crank pully nut and its still pretty stiff. Ive tried pulling the plugs and pouring some oil down the plug holes and let it set and still wont turn freely. You seem to know this engine pretty well, any ideas of wut i can do without totally overhauling like youve done?
I'm just a bit curious, all those lil timing dots on each gear, I was under the understanding that the marks went between the colored links, but I'm not seeing you use any apparent timing setting method.
Awesome, thanks. I gotta do the same on my 04 ram.
